be about the historical Jesus. Who was he? Did

he or his followers create a new religion?

According

practised what corresponds to today’s Orthodox Judaism all his life. His

followers were called Netzarim (Hellenized to "Nazarenes") – that is

Hebrew [it means offshoot (of a olive tree)] and is a name in the Jewish Bible

that is used for Messiah.

I have come to understand that part of the reason the Holocaust was so awful from a Jewish perspective was that not only were some many people needlessly and cruelly murdered, but as many of their bodies were burned, they would not be able to be resurrected in the world to come.

So I have a question, does this belief stem from something written in the Torah, or ...

A Woman's Place in Torah

From the talks of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson

The role of women in society is changing and now, more than ever, women are asking, "What is my place in Torah?", "Are there limits to the Torah subjects I should study?" The Lubavitcher Rebbe addresses these questions, drawing on eternally relevant Torah principles and applying them within the context of contemporary life.

by Rabbi Shraga Simmons

From the Holocaust to the Israeli flag, what is the deeper meaning of this six-pointed Jewish symbol?

In modern times, the Star of David has become a premier Jewish symbol. This six-pointed star (hexagram), made of two interlocking triangles, can be found on mezuzahs, menorahs, tallis bags, and kipot. Ambulances in Israel bear the sign of the "Red Star of David," and the flag of Israel has a blue Star of David planted ...

are there any other examples in jewish history of any similar occurances.

What does it mean to eat Kosher or to live Kosher?

Kosher means 'fit to eat', it describes what is safe to eat according to what G-d tells us in his Holy Word.

One of the first admonishments is a negative command ( don't do this) and is found in Genesis 9:4 and it tells us that the life of a creature is in it's blood, therefore we aren't to eat it. This applies to all mankind, not just Jews. For gentiles that are believers in Yeshua/ Jesus this is spoken of in Acts 10, you are not ...

Its the day of Atonement soon, what do you actually do on the day?

I am under the impression that fasting is done, is there anything else. I feel kind of lead to fast as well on this day, but dont know what else is involved. We are also supposed to be going to a wedding, so does it start at sunset on the friday or does it start in the morning?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

I thought I'd start a thread where we can bring up any questions about eating and keeping Kosher.

For those starting out here is a website that lists those animals that are called clean and can be eaten according to Torah.

Animals - http://www.crcweb.org/kosher/consumer/animalList.html

Fish - http://www.crcweb.org/kosher/consumer/fishList.html

Birds - Amongst the species that are known to be kosher are: chicken, turkey, dove, duck, certain types of geese, pheasant, quail.
