PostSubject: Non-trinitatrian belief   Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:39 pm

OK so I was reading Psalms' thread a few weeks ago about the trinity, and she got me thinking about it.

Why do we (christians) believe in the trinity? It isnt a word that is in the bible, yet we are taught to believe that God is three persons in One.

Anyway for a couple of months prior to this thread God has been speaking to me about what it does say in the bible, and is part of the Shema "Hear O Isreal, the Lord is God the Lord is One. And then strongly just before christmas and after "You shall call his name Emmanuel - God with us".

So that really got me thinking, maybe my understanding of the trinity is incorrect, maybe the doctrine is too narrow to explain God's nature.

OK so how can a finite being (me) understand the Infinite (God).

Well I have a basic understanding of how God can know what will happen, but that I still have choices to make, so I think that at some point I will be able to grasp a tiny amount that will enable me to understand how God is One and not three persons.

I have been debating this with Steven, he says that the problem is I dont know the answer to the question, becasue I dont know the question.

So what is it that I have issue with, is it God being One or that God appears to be in three - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I though it was the Oneness of God but now I think it is the threeness.

Anyway last night I was on CF and they were debating issues around Gods Oneness. Someone posted some verses from Exodus about God using his right hand for salvation.

And it was a real eye opener, her premise was that Jesus (Yeshua) is no seated at Gods right hand, but is Gods right hand, ie Salvation, which is what his name means, so now I think that I have graspsed a tiny little part of what I am seeking.

If anyone else has any bright ideas, revelations, light on the subject I would be very glad to hear about it.

no offence to be made but would it not make G-d lop sided as I see no scriptures which talk of His left hand...

In the bible , the right hand is used as a euphemisim. Also , if you look you will see where the stigma of lefties came from. Wink

One day I shall sit down and try to explain what the L-RD showed me to help understand his 'parts' better. Smile

Please do it soon, I'm not making much progress, although I was listening to a scientist the other day explaining the creation and that the Spirit of the Lord was "brooding" on the earth when it was created, I spent so time meditating the rotating and walming the earth while I was in the bath.

Yes, it seems to be pressing that I share this. I guess I am hesitating because it isn't simple and will require some intense research to help explain it to others. I have been feeling lead to do this for my Torah group as well so as soon as I do, I'll share it here. Smile
