PostSubject: hebrew roots   Fri Aug 24, 2007 4:10 am

I am actually new to the whole messianic aspect of christianity. My journey began a few months ago in April, when I damaged my neck and so have been off work since.

To alleviate boredom, I translated the book of Matthew from the greek and my eyes were opened.

It was like catching a virus. Out of nowhere, our Lord, led me into the olive tree passage and it has been non stop since. In the space of a few months, I have read a handful of books:

Our Father Abraham - Marvin Wilson
Parables: jewish tradition and christian interpretation - Brad Young
Jewish New Testament - David Stern
Jewish New Testament Commentary - as above
subscribed to First fruits of Zion (http://www.ffoz.org)
and joined numerous mailing lists related to the subject

I even contacted the chief rabbi of the UK and recieved a letter back through the post, which surprised me greatly and even encouraged me.

What a ride.

Well I'm here too because of Steven the Cyblerliard, hes my husband, and I follow him around a lot, which includes the new interest of Messianic belief.

I have a few questions for you, if you are Messianic, as we mostly dont have a clue about how people actually practice their faith.

So look forward to getting to know you.Very Happy

Catrin xx

It's been a while since anyone posted on this thread -

hopefully you're still there with your offer to answer questions. Are these followed today?

I've read where nuclear families pray for each other daily before heading out the door. The father usually starts off and places his hand on his childrens heads' and his wife and prays for them including blessing them.

Read a wedding ceremony and was surprised that the blessings for the couple contained I think it was 7 blessings. When I read those, 5 concentrated on blessing Yahweh with 2 for the couple. (I hope it's ok to say Yahweh).

Well, I'll stop here for now.
