PostSubject: Parsha Ki Tetze - week of August 25th   Parsha Ki Tetze - week of August 25th EmptyThu Aug 23, 2007 2:31 pm

In this week's parashah, Ki Tetze (means, when you go out), Moses continues his final speech to the Israelites by outlining 74 of the Torah's 613 mitzvot .

This parsha is notable as it contains the most mitzvot of all parashot, some count 72 ( Mamonides) some 74, but I have gone over them myself and found 76.

It starts at verse 10 of the 21st chapter of Deuteronomy and ends with chapter 25, verse 19

i actually have a list of the '613' commands on the computer desk, and whilst not being fully Torah observant, I cannot help but think how extremely useful some of the laws are, especially the ones on social justice. If these were implemented today, the results would be mind numbling.

Thing is they cannot be done by just anyone, they were for Israel , to be a Holy nation and to represent HaShem in the earth. Certain laws were just so he could walk through the camp and not be contaminated with sinful things. Today it is different, we have been cleansed by accepting Yeshuas sacrifice therefore the Spirit of G-d can come and reside within our very being.

This is all true. It amazed me that when the laws are not counted for things like the priesthood and the temple and others which cannot be kept today by anyone due to the way things are, there are not really that many left.

I for one would not recognise a 'seed of Amalek' if he walked down my street.

But I am glad I now a person, who kept the whole of the Torah, and chose to die for me.
