| i cam to this forum after endless complaints on Christian Forums about anti-semitic and anti-judaic posts in the messianic forum since the new rules were in place. I also came here to get away from the people who just want to argue about their own little corner of the scripture. I came here in the hope there would be a more friedly atmosphere, and there is. This site though small is very friendly compared to some others of which I am a member, sure that may change, but at the minute it is designed for chrsitians and jews, nothing more, nothing less. A place to sit back, chill out and relax. however for those who prefer a more hectic pace go to http://foru.msor http://hebrewroots.proboards99.com/ or http://www.jerusalemcouncil.org/midrash/index.php | |

| Hi, Cyber. I had been lurking on Foru.ms for some time, and always enjoyed your posts. LA | |

| I came here today at your invitation. I still have a definite connection with CF/For.ums, but some people in some parts of that forum can be very hard-nosed about insisting that certain doctrines be accepted by everyone. The trinity is where it came home to me, but that is not the only doctrine where I am not in the mainstream. I am hoping that my experience here be an improvement, at least, in the attitudes taken by those who disagree with others. | |

| I like both forums, I'm afraid I'm a bit addicted. Never mind, the only comment I would make is that on the Messianic forum on CF I dont understand what they are talking about half the time becasue they write Hebrew words that I dont understand. At least here Psalms speaks in english, literally, he he, and I can understand you and you make it simple. You should write one of those books ".......... (Messianic Judaism) for dummies", or something.

Catrin xx I certainly understand your difficulty. I have been studying the Bible for several years and read it regularly in German and Spanish as well as English. Recently when I was no longer able to post freely on closest to home forum, the CF non-denominational forum, I started looking and reading in other places including that same Messianic forum. Some of their topics and words left me way out in right field. I was unable to follow their train of thought much less join in on the conversation, because I did not understand too many of the words that were being used.

| i think most of us struggle with the messianic language be it hebrew, yiddish or ladino (or any other dialect), in mean often enough i struggle to articulate myself in english.
i know what i want to write. i know the words in my head, and the thoughts behind them. But when it comes to typing them on the computer i (as probably everyone has found) presume people will understand innately what i am trying to express (though often it does not turn out this way).
Sometimes i think it is important to play the game 'terms clarification' - here's a little example.
I shout to "Catrin, nip to the computer desk and bring me a rubber upstairs to the bedroom" - now i mean go to the computer desk, find an object for removing pencil marks and come up the stairs, bringing it to me in the bedroom so i can erase something.
Alternatively I shout to "Catrin, nip to the computer desk and bring me a rubber upstairs to the bedroom" - now i could mean, something entirely different, it could be sexual, i.e. a 'rubber' has different connotations depending on where we live.
It is like the word mail (which americans use) which means to send something via courier from one location to another. However, in the England, where proper english is spoken, we use the term 'post'.
So whilst we know what we mean when we write, we cannot presume others understand as we do.

| I wasn't having trouble understanding the rubber part, I was having a bit trouble with the ' nip' part. Haven't heard that expression before. | |
