I have the first addition, I installed Norton as my AV, it clashes with vista, and I completely lost my internet explorer all the IT people said theses nothing wrong with it, I couldn't use windows at all. Still can't. A friend sent me Firefox and Opera. Opera doesn't allow me to post on only this forum. Firefox clashes with vista and shuts down on me.

The meant to of sent the up grade, each time it downloads it crashes the computer.

My computer is less than 4 months old.

If you can remember the old MS Dos systems you can use Vista. DO NOT put lava addons on. you will crash the system.

I can't even get words to work correctly.

I have been on computers for 25 years, and this is the worse programming I have ever seen.

I strongly suggest go Apple Mac or stay with XP, vista is horrible.

I run three forums and post on a few, and truely if I didn't need this computer I would ditch it.

I use firefox. I was just discussing with a friend about vista the other day and he said it doesn't go with Norton, he doesn't trust norton, he gave me some other names but I didn't write them down.

I would like to find an older but new model that also has a floppy, heard they are rarity these days as well. I don't know if I could get used to Apple, tried it once years ago, and just didn't seem right.............

i use xp - i have used these operating systems in the past, ms-dos, dr-dos, xenix (microsoft unix), unix (sun), linux (various flavours), windows (3.1 (still got the floppies), 95, 98, ME (what rubbish that was), and Vista (which i hate).

word to psalms - i use firewfox (have done for a good few years now, leaves IE gasping - i have some nice plugins, like a splash screen, html validator and some other boring bits like a download manager).

as to virus scanners i can recommend the extremely FREE Avast antivirus (has kept my system clean for around four years now).

before the PC (for those who go back this far) i owned an AtariST (with 512K of ram - awesome), Atari 800XL (with floppy drive, 6502 processor with which i learned to write assembler), Dragon64 (really pushing out the boat now and am back to the early 80's).

somewhere in my sad life i must have not been a nerd.......

First computer I got was an Amstrad 6128 3 inch disc you will laugh that was 25 years ago lol

JTFW - our first computer was a TI994-a made by Texas Instruments. It had 16K of
memory and loaded programs through a cassette player, great little computer.
